Description
The sign near Dyce Head Light said that steps along the cliff belonged to the Coast Guard and that the Town Of Castine did 'not invite you to use them'. OOPS. Too bad I read that on my way back. I spent a wonderful half hour on this rocky shoreline at low time trying to capture its beauty while simultaneous swatting as mosquitos. The lighthouse here served to guide mariners into the Penobscot River toward Bangor. Maine has almost 230 miles of coastline. Maine is famous for their rock-bound coasts, along which are many llighthouses built to help mariners avoid the treacherous waters.Maine is also know as the Pine Tree State and nearly 90% of the land is forested. The visual contrast of forested slopes sweeping down to the sea has been captured by numerous artists.
