Description
The very first thing I did after I arrived in Seville Spain was to climb La Giralda (the bell tower). From the top you get sweeping views of the city with nothing else in the vicinity that is taller to obstruct your view. I love watching the ebb and flow of people and traffic from high above. I also love how you can get a good feel of the layout of the city. During the climb there are large alcoves with openings where you can either rest during the climb or stop and enjoy the view from various levels. This is a view part way up the climb, showing part of the adjacent Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See. Better known as Seville Cathedral, it is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world, and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
