A Stellar sea lion trying to attract some attention along the coast of Alaska. Stellar sea lions are among the largest of pinnipeds, with only the walrus and elephant seals being larger. Males can grow to nearly 11 feet and weigh up to 2470 lbs! Females are smaller but can be up to 9.5 feet long and up to 770 lbs. Steller sea lions tend to live in the coastal waters of the subarctic and spend some time in water and some on land. They spend their time in the water feeding but haul-out onto land to reproduce, raise their pups, molt, and rest.
