Description
A short walk off the road to Milford Sound brings you to the Chasm, a waterfall within a narrow potholed gorge along the Cleddau River. The most dramatic part of the waterfall lies directly below a footbridge across the river so that only this upstream part can be safely photographed. Thousands of years of swirling whirlpools and eddies have have sculpted ‘potholes’ and basins in the rock making for some interesting shapes. This beautiful area in the Southland of New Zealand is part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage area, renowned for its amazing natural beauty.
