Description
I had researched the location and planned for taking a nighttime photo of Toledo Spain from this mirador (viewpoint) across the valley from the town. But what stands out most from this March evening was how COLD it was! I thought I had packed appropriately for the anticipated weather, but I hadn’t anticipated the wind that was blowing up on the mirador! I wasn’t the only one caught unprepared. There were several other photographers that evening, and we were all shivering waiting for darkness to fall! The mirador is a popular tour bus stop by day. In the evening, the crowd comes in private vehicles or by public transport, for a picnic or for nighttime cityscape photos. From here, it isn't hard to see how Toledo was once a strategic stronghold, cradled on three sides by the Tagus River. In this view, the Alacazar is seen on the right, sitting at the high point of the hill. The cathedra's spire rises in the center. Toledo is the capital of the province of Toledo and the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage and historical co-existence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures.
