Description
There is a contrast between the hustle and bustle of daily life and the peace and quiet of a mosque courtyard and garden. Up above is the courtyard and garden of the Suleyman Mosque (Suleymaniye Mosque) in Istanbul where worshipers and tourists alike look out over the balcony to the street life below as well as to a magnificent view of the Bosporus. On my trip, most people did not venture out to see this view. To me, it showed the great dichotomy of life: above and below, insiders and outsiders, work and repose, quiet and chatter. The Suleyman mosque is an Ottoman imperial mosque located on the Third Hill of Istanbul, Turkey. It is the largest mosque in the city, and one of the best-known sights of Istanbul.
