Description

This is Via Discovolo, the main drag in the Cinque Terre town of Manarola. There is no marina for the boats so they are pulled up on the main street at night or when not in use. I fell prey along the street to the gelato shops (I will admit to having more than one a day), and also to the store selling trekking gear where I replaced my backpack for a really really comfortable one! At the downhill end of the street is a tiny piazza and the waterfront, and of course, the paths leading to the gorgeous night views of the houses clinging to the cliffs. Cinque Terre is a string of five centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline in the Liguria region of Italy. In each of the five towns of the region, colorful houses and ancient vineyards cling to steep terraces and fishing boats bob in harbors. The five towns are a hikers tourism resort paradise. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
