Description
On the road leading past Mount Rushmore in Keystone SD (USA), there is a roadside pullout from which you can view the 60’ (18m) profile view of Washington. If you don’t want to deal with the crowds at Mount Rushmore or just want a slightly different experience, this is a lovely option. Washington was chosen as one of the figures to be carved on Mount Rushmore to represent the birth of the nation. The other figures on Mount Rushmore are not visible from this vantage point but include Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Lincoln representing, respectively, the growth, development and preservation of the United States. The project was created from 1927 – 1941. Tourism is South Dakota's second-largest industry, and Mount Rushmore is the state's top tourist attraction.
