Description
After running and jumping here and there, this little white-faced capuchin monkey sat on a stump and let us photograph him for quite a long time. Which, in monkey terms, means at least 15 seconds! White faced capuchins are native to the forests of Central America and the north-western part of South America including large parts of Costa Rica. The adult white faced capuchin has a length of 35-45cm (13.8-18in), excluding the tail, and weighs between 1.36 - 4.9 kilograms (3-9 lbs). The average life span is 44 years. Capuchins have an omnivorous diet consisting of fruits and insects, and occasionally small birds, small mammals and seeds. Thus, they are important to rainforest ecology for their role in dispersing seeds and pollen.

I love the expression on the monkey's face -- open, engaging, with an element of being surprised. l/f/tw/p
