Description

After a hearty meal from a bison carcass, this wolf headed down to the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park to slake his thirst. The International Wolf Center website says that “wolves do not curl their tongues up to drink water. Rather, they curl their tongue under itself to direct water into their mouths.” Maybe so. I didn’t get close enough to check. But what we could see from across the river was that this wolf seemed to snap at the water and attack the water with a fierce bite!
