If there was ever a bird that appears to walk on water, it is the African jacana. It has extremely long toes and claws that distribute its weight widely, enabling it to walk easily on thin and flimsy floating vegetation. This one was photographed on the Chobe River in Botswana standing on lily pads and feasting on the insects found inside the lily flower on the river.
