Description
Undoubtedly the highlight of Parc Guell in Barcelona Spain is the Gaudi dragon (El Drac) fountain that is at the entrance. Everybody, and I mean everybody, feels compelled to have his or her picture taken next to the dragon! To get a picture of the dragon without 10,000 of your closest friends in it probably requires that you arrive early or stay late. Alternatively, be ready and be quick! This dragon is adorned in beautiful colored tiling and there is something rather hypnotic and magical about it. The tiling is done in the trencadis style, that is, using broken pottery and tiles to create the design. Park Guell is a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gracia district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudi"
