Description
The gray heron is one of the many species found in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Nogorongoro Crater in Tanzania is a protected area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the world’s largest caldera (collapsed volcano). It has global importance for biodiversity conservation due to the presence of globally threatened species, the density of wildlife in the area, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, and other animals. The rim of the crater is approximately 600 m above the floor and from the rim, the crater looks empty. But in the spring, the floor of the crater is covered in wildflowers.
