In adding this image to an Out of the Ordinary discussion, you commented that "it's a view of spirituality quite unknown in the 'western' world." It occurred to me, though, that Catholics have been known to undertake similar ritual acts of devotion, like mounting long flights of stairs up to a church on their knees.
