Description
The Doric temple of Segesta, abandoned for millennia, stands in mute observation of the change in seasons as the flowers bloom once again in the spring. Segesta is an archeological park in northwestern Sicily between Palermo and Trapani. The temple was built between 430 and 420 BCE and stands in almost perfect condition today. Perfect condition, that is, considering it was never finished in the first place! Among other things, the temple lacks any ornamentation, altar or deity dedication, and was never roofed over.
