Artist's Description
This is the black and white version of the image entitled "Admiralty Head Lighthouse". It was actually a slightly overcast day, verging on getting gloomy so I thought the black and white treatment captured that mood! I traveled over to this lighthouse via a ferry from Port Townsend WA. I was thrilled to discover that i could take such a fun mode of transportation rather than drive all the way around Puget Sound. So getting here was at least half the fun. Nothing says Seattle (and the Seattle area) like a ferry! Once on Whidbey island, the lighthouse is a 2 minute drive. Ships bound from the Pacific to Seattle must first pass along the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, which separates the Olympic Peninsula and Canada's Vancouver Island, and then turn south and navigate through Admiralty Inlet before reaching Puget Sound.
