I stood in the covered doorway of a building across from the Church/Convent of St Teresa in Avila Spain contemplating how to outsmart the intermittent rain and sporadic traffic in order to photograph the beautiful Baroque facade of the church. I’d get all my settings ready and my lens dried off, then run out into the street and get the picture framed and shot before a car came along. Usually a car came barreling around the corner behind me just as I was ready, then I had to start the procedure all over again! If you are not Catholic, you may find yourself in Avila Spain without realizing its importance as a pilgrimage city. Once there, you can hardly avoid learning something about St Teresa of Avila. Many sites in the historical part of the city are closely associated with her life. The Convent of St. Teresa is one of those sites.
