Artist's Description
Since 1999, the city of Fort Worth TX has had its own herd of longhorn cattle, which are part of a twice-daily cattle drive through the historic stockyards. Originally there were 15 longhorn, one for each decade of Fort Worth's history. The original 15 have retired but the tradition goes on. Also part of the original intent was to educate people that 'cowboys' were not all like John Wayne, they were a diverse lot ethnically, and included women as well. Since 2002, the trail boss of the Fort Worth drovers has been a woman. All the details of the herd and the drovers' kit are authentic 1890s. This is the kit of one of the drovers of the Fort Worth TX longhorn herd.

About Joan Carroll
Protected with PIXSY About Joan Carroll: I am a Fort Worth Texas-based outdoor photographer who feels at home while on the road...in Texas, in the US, around the world. My photographic goal is to travel the world in a curious yet respectful way, taking the time to see and understand the unique story of each place I visit. Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
