I arrived in Segovia first on the high speed train and then via a bus connection to the central city. The bus drops you off right here at the Roman Aqueducts of Segovia (well, actually on the other side of the aqueducts from this viewpoint). It is definitely a WOW moment! My B&B was located just past that building, up a small hill a few blocks to the left so I was able to visit this incredible scene over and over again! The Aqueduct of Segovia is a Roman aqueduct and one of the most significant and best-preserved ancient monuments left on the Iberian Peninsula. It is the foremost symbol of Segovia, as evidenced by its presence on the city's coat of arms. The actual date of the Aqueduct's construction had always been considered a mystery until the end of the 20th century when a German archaeologist managed to decipher the text on the dedication plaque by studying the anchors that held the now missing bronze letters in place.
