This is the black and white version of the Garvey Veihl house. I found this house listed as one of the most endangered historic buildings in Fort Worth, as listed by Historic Fort Worth. When I drove there I expected to see a rundown old home. I was shocked to see an historic building in total disrepair. Yet, there was a For Sale sign on the sidewalk and a satellite dish attached to the back of the house! The Historic Texas Landmark sign in the front read: Early landowner Baldwin L Samuel deeded land in this are to his daughter Mary and her husband Isaac Foster in 1876. The Fosters and their daughter Lucy (Lula) and her husband William B. Garvey moved here from Kentucky in 1882 and built a home overlooking the Trinity River on a lot adjacent to this home site. At that time many of the city's wealthiest families were building impressive homes along Samuels Avenue and the bluff of the Trinity River.
