After a one-way hike from Monterosso to Levanto in the Cinque Terre area of Italy, we were faced with how to make the return trip. We could just take a train back but then we thought we’d first walk on the rails-to-trails route to Bonassola and take a train back from there. About a hundred yards into that walk, I looked out at the calm Mediterranean sea and thought that maybe a boat ride back would be fun! So we turned around and bought boat tickets. This left us about 90 minutes before the boat left, so I wandered around the town and the beach in Levanto seeing what there was to see. The small boats all pulled up onto the beach were particularly photogenic!
