Artist's Description
I stayed in a fantastic B&B that was only a 5 min walk from the Blue Mosque in Instanbul, Turkey. So I could either go up to the rooftop for some early morning photos or just walk over for more close up photos. I did both on alternate days, as it was difficult to choose which was more beautiful. The Blue Mosque is fascinating in all light. Early morning winter light on the portico of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey creates beautiful shadows to accentuate the architecture. This vaulted arcade is part of the large forecourt of the mosque, which is nearly as large as the mosque itself. It was particularly rewarding to visit very early in the morning as the crowds were sparse and I could enjoy the beautiful light and the wonderful architecture.

About Joan Carroll
Protected with PIXSY About Joan Carroll: I am a Fort Worth Texas-based outdoor photographer who feels at home while on the road...in Texas, in the US, around the world. My photographic goal is to travel the world in a curious yet respectful way, taking the time to see and understand the unique story of each place I visit. Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
