Artist's Description

This is only a very small part of the principal facade of the Palacio de San Telmo in Sevilla Spain. The entire facade is distinguished by a magnificent three-story Churrigueresque entrance completed in 1754. It took over 70 years to complete by three generations of the Figueroa family. The palace is one of the emblematic buildings of Sevillian architecture. Churrigueresque refers to a Spanish Baroque style of elaborate sculptural architectural ornament which emerged as a manner of stucco decoration in Spain in the late 17th century and was used up to about 1750. It is marked by extreme, expressive and florid decorative detailing, normally found above the entrance on the main facade of a building. One the second floor of the entrance is a balcony and the sculpture shown here is the support for the balcony with aspects of indigenous people of the Americas.

Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
