Artist's Description
We walked out of the woods on Tiritiri Matangi, an island reserve near Auckland New Zealand, to see this clearing leading up the hillside. The view from atop the hill gives a spectacular look at the Hauraki Gulf, northeast of Auckland. The lighthouse is left over from its days as an inhabited island! It is owned and operated by Maritime New Zealand. It is considered the best-preserved lighthouse complex in the country, and is the oldest lighthouse in New Zealand still in operation.

Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
