It looms over the cityscape below, looking like a spaceship that has just landed. It is the Most SNP Bridge in Bratislava, Slovakia (Slovenskeho narodneho povstania, English: Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising), and is also called the UFO Bridge for obvious reasons! The flying saucer at the top houses a restaurant, called UFO, which offers great views of Bratislava. The bridge was built between 1967 and 1972 and officially opened on August 26, 1972 as the second bridge over the Danube in Bratislava. It was originally christened the "Most SNP" in honor of a 1944 resistance movement against Nazi forces. It is the world's longest cable-stayed bridge to have one pylon and one cable-stayed plane.
