Description
FEATURED PHOTO, The Photographers Cafe group, 8/7/12
The waterfront of the fishing village of Anadolu Kavagi, on the Asian side of the Bosporus Straits, north of Istanbul. The small fishing town of Anadolu Kavagi sits on Macar Bay, on the east side of the Bosporus Straits. It is at one of the narrowest stretches of the Bosporus, across from Rumeli Kavagi. This is an historically strategic location for trade and military purposes, at the confluence of the Black Sea and the Bosporus. A massive chain could be extended across the Bosporus between Anadolu Kavagi and Rumeli Kavagi, cutting off the straits to attacking warships, similar to the chain across the Golden Horn that was used to defend Constantinople.
