Description
Perhaps what everyone looks for in Seville, Spain are the smaller alleys and lanes that define old world architecture. The Barrio Santa Cruz has these lanes preserved. Santa Cruz is the former Jewish quarter of the medieval city dating from the early 13th century when the Jews were confined to this single area. Many of the lanes are too narrow for cars, lending a wistful nostalgia to the area. The barrio has many small plazas, tile covered patios, and whitewashed houses with wrought iron latticework. In warmer weather, these patios are likely draped in flowers. Today, the area is home to many bars, tapas restaurants and small shops making it a touristy area. But if you hit it just right, you can imagine the days gone by.
