Maybe it was the blazing hot summer afternoon or the ease of just riding by in the tourist tram. For whatever reason, I was one of the few pausing to look for more than a few minutes. I was there long enough for people to start asking me for directions! The Cathedral is one of the most prominant landmarks of St Augustine, located right on the central square. It is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of St. Augustine. Constructed over five years (1793�1797), it was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark on April 15, 1970.The history of Florida, like other places in North America, involved being ruled by several European nations including Britain and Spain.
