Description
We were supposed to be photographing a model in a kimono in a park in Kyoto Japan when we spied some eastern great egret in a nearby marsh. Some were standing very still in the shallow water waiting for a meal to swim by before ‘spearing’ it with its bill. Others were flying here and there. This one was coming in for a landing. Needless to say, these beautiful displays distracted me for a short while! The eastern great egret is considered a subspecies of the great egret. It has all white plumage. During the breeding season, the bill is black, otherwise it is yellow. It can be distinguished from other egrets because of its very long neck.

Stunningly beautiful! The grace of movement and intensity of gaze are artfully captured...nicely done!
