Artist's Description

Dusk presents a special moment at the Oklahoma City Memorial in Oklahoma City, OK, USA. Looking west across the reflecting pool, you look through the gate representing the First Moment of Recovery. An explosion at 9:02 am on April 19, 1995 killed 168 people. The explosion was set off by Timothy McVeigh who detonated a rental truck filled with explosives in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. By 9:03, people were faced with the grim reality of the magnitude of the loss. But this gate represents hope for the future, the fact that we always have to move forward. This memorial was constructed on the location to honor the victims, survivors, rescuers, and all who were affected by the event. In a larger sense, we across the country and around the world were affected by the event, and you will find tears welling up, maybe even running down your cheeks, when you step on the grounds. Nearly 25 years on, the wounds are still there. The symbolism of the many facets of the memorial is...
