Driving through the Kenai peninsula's Chugach National Forest near Seward Alaska, I was trying not to be the obnoxious tourist driving 30 mph below the speed limit and weaving all over the road while looking at the scenery. So when I topped a hill and saw the layers of fog drifting down between layers of trees, I wanted to stop for a photo. But I was going 50 mph and couldn’t stop at the exact place I wanted. I figured I’d just slow down and take the picture farther down the road. But farther down the road the view of the mountainside was more obstructed by roadside trees and there weren’t any safe places to pull to the side. I knew the scene would be changing fast so I did a quick U-turn when I could and raced back and did another U-turn to get back to ‘the spot’. Luckily there was still enough fog to make the photo I envisioned!
