These two Nazca boobies were too busy grooming to notice any humans on the path next to them. While the Nazca booby doesn’t flaunt colorful feet, it is a rather handsome black and white bird. The adult is bright white with black and white wings, a black tail, a dark face mask and a long, pointed orange-yellow bill. It was long considered a subspecies of the masked booby but is recognized as its own species since 2002.While found in the Galapagos, it is also found in other places in the Eastern Pacific in central and South America. This one photographed on the island of Genovesa, also known as Bird Island, because of the large and varied bird colonies which nest here.
