Sometimes you are just lucky that you have to wait! I had my ticket to visit the Alcazar in Seville Spain at 9:30 am and about 10 minutes before that I walked to the entrance only to find that it didn't open until 9:30. Left with a couple of minutes to wait, I turned around to see the Seville Cathedral bathed in warm morning light! It was the most beautiful time of day to see the rich )tones of the stonework and I might have missed it had I immediately gotten into the Alcazar! Combining the cathedral, the palm trees, and the blue sky, it felt like it could be a warm lazy Mediterranean day, even though it was mid-January. The Seville Cathedral is the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See or Catedral de Santa Maria de la Sede It is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. The interior has the longest nave of any cathedral in Spain. The central nave rises to a height of 42 meters and is lavishly decorated with a large quantity of gilding. In the main body of the cathedral, the most noticeable features are the great boxlike choir loft, which fills the central portion of the nave, and the vast Gothic retablo of carved scenes from the life of Christ. It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
