Description
Cafes are a way of life in Europe, rain or shine, summer or winter, inside and outside. This cafe, waiting for the morning rush, is inside in the Galleries Royales St Hubert in Brussels, a friendlier alternative for people not accustomed to outdoor dining in all weather! The Galeries Royales St Hubert was build in 1847 and is Europe's oldest still-operating shopping mall. It served as the glass-covered model that inspired many other shopping galleries in Paris, London, and elsewhere. It celebrated the city's new modern attitude, having recently gained its independence from the Netherlands. Built in an age of expansion and industrialization, the mall demonstrated efficient modern living, with elegant apartments upstairs above trendy shops, theaters, and cafes. Today you will not find a Gap, or a Foot Locker, but you WILL find Nauhaus' flagship chocoate shop and stores that sell hats, canes, and umbrellas. Oh yes, and the cafes!
