Description
In one great synchronized movement, all the lights on the bridges and historic buildings within the UNESCO World Heritage area along the banks of the Danube River in Budapest come on at once! It's really a beautiful sight. If you arrive before sunset, you watch the sun set and the light fall. Then all at once the lights come on and as it gets darker and darker, the splendor is even more evident. On this particular evening, I wanted to photograph the Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge. Unfortunately for pedestrians and photographers, the Pest side of the river is lined with cruise ships so that a good view of the entire Chain Bridge could not be gotten. Buda Castle is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest, and was first completed in 1265. In the past, it has been called Royal and Royal Castle. The current castle is a post-WWII loose reconstruction of previous versions of the castle. The Szechenyi Chain Bridge is one of the characteristic bridges spanning the River Danube between Buda and Pest and a popular attraction in its own right.
