Description
Probably few trails offer so much scenery for so little effort as the one from Moraine Lake to the lower Consolation Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta Canada. Only 3 km one way through a spruce/fir forest with an elevation gain of only 60 m, you get to view glacier clad mountains, lakes, wildflowers and wildlife. We were able to reach the lake before the rains came but as we were taking photos we could see a storm coming from over the mountains. The large field of boulders on the west side of this lower lake make it awkward going to try to reach the upper lake. The Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho along with three provincial parks comprise a UNESCO World Heritage site.
