Description
In driving from here to there in South Dakota, I chose a route that would not include the interstate highway. Initially it was all farmland but soon the road became unpaved. No big deal…I figured that would only be for a short distance. But time and miles went by and the road was still unpaved. And I wasn’t seeing any other cars. At all. Oh…and no cell phone service. I started worrying….what if I have car trouble?! More time and miles went by and I’m still on dirt roads in South Dakota farmland. And then I pass this deserted, run down, abandoned, distressed building. Your mind goes in strange directions.

Great story and some of the most beautiful part of the country to run out of road in (at least 5 or 6 months out of the year). Great find Joan!

Were you scared driving the long deserted road Joan? But you surely captured a great image!

The light and the sky really make this a warm and inviting image! Well done! :-) Maggie

Poignant. Thoughtful. It cries out to our hearts to question -- who lived here? For how long? Why did they leave? I never pass homes like these without wondering . . . l/f/tw
Joan Carroll replied:
thank you Steve, especially true out in the prairies. It's hard not to try to imagine the lives led.
