On the western shore of Lake Como Italy is the Greenway, a 10 km easy walk that meanders between the larger towns on the lake shore and the smaller hamlets up on the hillsides. This is one of the cobblestone lanes in Mezzegra, located between Tremezzo and Lenno. Historical fact: It is in this area that Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci were executed by partisans on April 28, 1945. He had been trying to escape to Switzerland when he was captured. The events of nearly 75 years ago seem far away from this peaceful village today.
