Description

Many of the ‘classic’ photos of Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre region of Italy have been taken from the rocks and balcony directly in opposite the standpoint of this photo. And that rocky area along the harbor edge seemed to be a traditional ‘hangout’ at sunset where dozens of people gathered nightly to watch the sun go down. But in 2019 it was fenced off, I’m sure to the disappointment of many. However, other ‘hangouts’ seem to have taken its place, as can be seen immediately in front of the viewpoint of this photo, as well as where I am standing on another rocky outcropping. It’s impossible to stand in the way of determined holiday makers intent on finding their place in the sun at sunset!
