Description
This is the female partner of the bright green-headed mallard. Mallards occur throughout North America and Eurasia in ponds and urban parks as well as wilder wetlands and estuaries. Females and juveniles are mottled brown with orange-and-brown bills. Both sexes have a white-bordered, blue “speculum” patch in the wing. The Mallard Duck is probably the most common and iconic wild duck in the Northern Hemisphere.
