Description
I walked from the Zocodover (one of the main squares) to San Martin’s Bridge on the western side of Toledo Spain with the intent of photographing the bridge and then continuing on to walk around the southern side of the city to the Mirador del Valle which offers a great view of Toledo from across the Tagus river. One there, I looked at the map and determined that it was a shorter trip to continue my walk to the eastern side of the city than to backtrack the way I had come. So as dusk fell, I was nearing the historic Puente de Alcantara and looked behind me to see the beautiful light falling over the hills beyond the Puente Nuevo de Alcantara (New Alcantara Bridge). As I understand it, the New Alcantara Bridge was constructed in the early 20th century to relieve the historic Roman Alcantara Bridge from vehicular traffic.
